Twas The Night Before Yuletide [24 Dec 2012|06:17am]

shadow_stallion
Just thought I would share something I found years ago....

Twas The Night Before Yuletide
C.C.Williford

Twas the night before Yuletide and all through the glen
Not a creature was stirring, not a fox, not a hen.
A mantle of snow shone brightly that night
As it lay on the ground, reflecting moonlight.
cont’dCollapse )

The old crone just smiled at the beautiful sight,
"Happy Yuletide, my children," she whispered. "Good night!"

Happy Yuletide to you all, may the holidays and the year ahead of us be filled with happiness.

Memphis, TN [16 Sep 2012|12:37am]

I am looking for just the right fur to run a panel at Fangcon, a new convention in Memphis, TN. I'd like somefluff who is familiar with the theater, & several different pagan paths. The panel host would need to be comfortable discussing the basics of Paganism, as a generalized faith grouping, as well as pagan dieties or anthros in the theater. Host must also be a good public speaker.

I would be happy to assist the host with putting the panel together if needs be. *smile* If you are interested, or know someone who may be, please let me know. ~^=^~

There WILL be an interview process.

Stones, crystals, etc [18 Oct 2008|05:25pm]

So, how many here are interested in working with stones, crystals, etc? What are your favorites?

I'm a bit of an oddball in that I love such things as Basalt and Granite, which sadly get little to no recognition in metaphysical communities. However, I'm also partial to things like Hematite, Onyx, Obsidian, and Quartz. I have a semi-extensive (about 50-75 stones, not counting beads, charms, jewelry pieces, etc) collection, but I'm always expanding. It's about half rough stones (most of these natural rough Minnesota quartz, very nice) and half tumbled, polished, or cut stones (most of these were purchased).

I recently came across this website, which sells rough Lake Superior agates, among other things. I ordered myself a little one from there (about 10 bucks). I've always loved the energy of agates that I've purchased, but mine hasn't arrived quite yet so I'm still waiting to see about this one.

I highly advise that some of you actually repost this stuff for once. I don't mean to be rude but I am in a really bad mood and on the verge of snapping thanks to other things going on at the moment, and to be honest, I am tired of being the only one posting this stuff aside from wolf communities when so many claim to care and to want to do "anything" to help.

Once again, I am in a very, very bad mood, so cool it before you snap at me. As stated, I am on the verge right now, and none of that is meant half as bad as it sounds. I can't donate anything other then trying to spread the word, and if that's the best I can do, damn right I am going to do it.

Dear Silverwolf,

A wolf massacre is on the horizon in Idaho.

I sent you and many others a message recently asking for help in preventing the killing of up to 75% of the wolves in the Lolo District of Idaho's Clearwater National Forest. Tens of thousands of people have signed our petition, but now I need even more help.

Please support Defenders of Wildlife's efforts to stop the state of Idaho's plan to slaughter 3 out of 4 wolves in this area: http://go.care2.com/e/my_/Px/E3hZ

This planned massacre is truly outrageous: the state of Idaho will be able to kill wolves even when they have done nothing to harm livestock.

Your support can help stop wolf massacres! With public education and careful oversight of state and federal agencies we can protect wolves.

When you donate to Defenders of Wildlife, they will help stop the Idaho Wolf Massacre:

* In the Courts: They will fight in court to save the 3 out of 4 wolves that could be killed in an area of Clearwater National Forest if the state is allowed to proceed with its wolf control plan for the area. Already, they've helped mobilize tens of thousands of people to submit comments in opposition to the state's plan, which is based on insufficient science.
* With Ranchers: Defenders is working to reduce conflicts between ranchers and wolves by supporting non-lethal wolf deterrents, purchasing fencing and livestock guard dogs, protecting sheep bedgrounds, providing grazing alternatives and more.
* With the State: Defenders is working with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game to provide non-lethal control alternatives to reduce conflicts and build support for science-based management. These efforts help protect wolves from being needlessly killed due to politics or bad science.

In addition, your financial support allows Defenders to keep investigating wolf killings, monitor state and federal agencies, devise and implement methods to reduce conflicts between wolves and ranchers, and challenge plans to kill wolves in the Lolo District of Clearwater National Forest.

Please donate to stop the Idaho Wolf Massacre today:
http://go.care2.com/e/my_/Px/E3hZ

Sincerely,
Hilary S.
Care2 and ThePetitionSite Team

P.S. Just last week, Alaska's anti-wolf extremist governor lost his primary. And he lost big.

While the defeat is no guarantee that Idaho's governor will adopt a more sensible, science-based approach to wolf management, it is a hopeful sign, and something we can celebrate. Help stop more anti-wolf extremism by donating today: http://go.care2.com/e/my_/Px/E3hZ

I thought I'd send out a basic intorduction post. I'm Kayte, I've only recently become involved in the furry community, but I have been involved in the pagan community for seven years, helping to run public rituals of various sizes, most recently helping to organize a local PPD. Anything else you'd like to know about me, I'd love for you to ask. ^_^

Meditation [16 Mar 2006|09:47pm]

takodahaka
[ mood | calm ]

I'm not too keen on asking the Interweb what its thoughts are on meditation and how to achieve it better (mostly because it's teasingly vague). I've been having a bit of difficulty of late (past couple of days) getting to a state of meditation. Anyone here had that problem? Any suggestions on how to get the mind to stop the chatter it'll do sometimes?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Blessings be on you all :bows:

Alright people.

This is _not_ the place for posting meme's or anything off topic. I've been a bit of a slacking mod and I had to delete a meme entry from shadow_mage. Do not post them. This isnt the place for them. I dont care if its furry related, they dont belong here.

Cheers.

A Dreambook Journal [17 Feb 2006|12:23am]

takodahaka
[ mood | tired ]

I've started a dreambook journal to record my rites and experiences as I walk the path of a shaman that I have begun to understand. It's slow but it's also very fulfilling. And, while I may not be a traditional shaman in the Native American sense (or really in most senses), I feel a great connection to the earth around me and get great comfort in helping out others. The LJ user name for the journal is 'ookamishaman'.

If you would like to read this journal, please, comment here and let me know. As of yet, it is friends-locked. I have done this not because I am selfish or paranoid...I am just not comfortable with any one and everyone reading of my spiritual experiences.

May the Great Spirit watch over and bless you and may your path be fulfilling.

Okay, it appears that LiveJournal is working for me again with no problems, so as such, I'm going through my Friends' Pages while I can. I'm crossing my fingers and toes, that it KEEPS working, but if it poops out again, and I disappear from commenting, that's why.

The Shaman's Path [21 Jan 2006|09:56pm]

takodahaka
[ mood | calm ]

Hello. My name is Merlin (though the handle is Mortag) and I'm a new member to this community. I look forward to sharing experiences with all of you.

I have started on the path of a shaman in the Native American tradition. I'm not sure if there are any other shamen here but I'm curious as to how to go onward to being a shaman. Questions About The PathCollapse )

I'm certain that my spirit animal is a wolf; they've been in my dreams many times, I've dreamed of being one many times and I feel that I am one in spirit (so I'm a therian too). I also carry around a wolf fetish in a buckskin bag necklace (along with a fox fetish). Do I try to approach the wolf spirit for guidance on my path? And how do I do that? I want very much to deepen my spirituality since it brings me peace and happiness.

Even if there aren't any definitive answers anyone can give, the support would be very much appreciated. Powers bless and keep you.
